Venice Carnival
For two weeks before Lent, Venice, which already attracts romantics from around the world all year round, is filled with bright masks, carnival costumes, music and laughter. Probably everyone has heard of the Venice Carnival, and more than half a million connoisseurs of the magical atmosphere of a medieval holiday come to admire this miracle every year.
A bit of history
Very soon, the Venice Carnival will celebrate its millennium anniversary, although the tradition of hiding faces at the festival appeared in ancient times. This helped aristocrats and commoners have fun together, forgetting about prejudice. Traveling on rowing and sailing ships
Rafts, various boats, bots and other vessels, national or recreated according to old models, are very popular.
The pioneer of this area is, without a doubt, the great traveler Thor Heyerdahl. His sailing on the famous rafts “Kon-Tiki”, “Ra”, “Tigris” laid the foundation for a whole direction in extreme tourism – overcoming the seas and oceans alone or in very small groups on very small and fragile rowing vessels.
The famous Norwegian explorer took his first trip together with five comrades back in 1947. The route of a brave group lay along the coast of Peru to the islands of Polynesia. Due to the exceptional decisiveness and ability of the expedition members with whom, using minimal material equipment, they made dangerous sea voyages across the Pacific Ocean, this journey is one of the most daring and outstanding expeditions of the 20th century. Rafting
Raft is an inflatable raft boat for rafting on rivers. Rafting is an alloy on rapids on inflatable ships. Raft is an elongated oval, designed for several people at once. They mainly hold on to it with their feet, sticking them into special loops like stirrups, since the hands are busy with oars during the rafting.
Coordinated rowing is very important in rafting alloy, otherwise the boat will turn the boat rapidly around its axis.
The raft has a captain (instructor), without which rafting is impossible. This is a rather dangerous sport and entertainment, so the captain does not tolerate objections from sailors.
Rafting is widespread almost everywhere where there is the possibility of rafting along the rivers. The World Rafting Championships take place on the African Zambezi River, slightly downstream of the famous Victoria Falls. Continue reading
